A. Installation: 
################
Put the acrypter plugin into the Plugins folder


B. Configure your im-client

You and your im buddy both need a copy of Miranda with Acrypter.

1. enable plugin
 go to   Options; Plugins  and check the Acrypter box.

2. configure plugin
 under menu --> click Acrypter --> click Key Management tab.
 by default, there is a built in "system" key; (it is in red letters).

   or

 create a personal encryption key.
   label it, for example, "Personalkey"
   export your key to save a copy of it for yourself if you desire.  
   ie., "Personalkey.ack"

 (the created key is of course safer than using the ubiquitous system key)


3. user settings tab
 highlight buddy's nickname and click "Send Def Key" button;  This
  will send your key.  now exit the menu.


C. Using your im-client
#######################
In the Miranda IM main interface window, right mouse-click
 buddy's nickname;
  From the drop down fields, choose "Enable encryption"





Notes
#####
 
  You know it is working if your send and receive messages are both
 displayed between "[" & "]" brackets.  (note: the sent and received messages
 are displayed in different shades of grey.)

  If a party does not have the key or the Acrypter plugin, encrypted 
 messages are not displayed; Instead, this message appears:
 "[Acrypter: Key [#####] was not found]".

  Offline encrypted messages are lost if your buddy does not have the proper key
 preset. 

  Offline encrypted messages are garbled/non-deciphered if your buddy uses a
 different im client.
